The Winter School has been set up on the proposal of the Department of Management (DISA) and in cooperation with Fondazione Alma Mater
The Winter School, which will last for 4 days, will be taught in English. It awards 5 University educational credits (CFU) and has as its learning outcome to equip participants - including PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, practitioners, and early-career researchers in finance, economics, and management - with a structured set of methodological skills for integrating theoretical modelling with empirical analysis in applied quantitative research.
The course specifically aims to enable participants to use theory as an operative instrument for strengthening empirical design: clarifying the underlying economic mechanisms, deriving testable implications, addressing identification challenges, building policy counterfactuals robust to the Lucas critique, and interpreting estimated coefficients more informatively through complementary quantitative exercises.
Application deadline: October 7th, 2026
