Institutional Roles and Responsibilities

The Department promotes and coordinates teaching activities in the degree classes of reference, collaborating with the Schools, Campuses, and Courses of Study referred to the Department; organizes or contributes to the organization of courses for the attainment of doctoral degrees and the Schools of Specialization in the scientific-disciplinary areas within its competence.

The Department promotes and coordinates research activities in the scientific-disciplinary areas of its competence without prejudice to the constitutionally defined autonomy in organizing research by each faculty member and researcher regarding topics and methods.

Research Delegate: Emanuele Bajo

The Department promotes third mission activities in the implementation of the guidelines adopted by the Academic Organs, that is, for the execution of consultancy and research activities under contract or agreement with third-party, private, and public entities.

The Director of the Department

The Director of the Department of Management is Prof. Angelo Paletta.
The Director is elected by the Council, generally from among the full professors of the Department, holds office for three academic years, and is immediately renewable once.

The Director promotes the Department's activities, exercises negotiating autonomy, supervises compliance with mandatory regulations and maintains relations with other academic bodies. He/she represents the Department within and outside the University, convenes and presides over the Board and Council, oversees the implementation of the Department's research and teaching programs, and is responsible for the administrative and accounting management of the Department.
In addition, the Director oversees the Department's research activity by taking care of its evaluation, provides the means for faculty and researchers to prepare doctoral and thesis students, and directs and coordinates the Technical-Administrative staff assigned to the Department.

The Department Council

It is composed of the professors and researchers of the Department, as well as representatives of technical and administrative staff, research fellows, doctoral students, and students.
It elects the Department Director and dictates the general criteria for using funds allocated to the Department for research and the Library.
Among its main powers, in addition to approving an annual plan for the development of research of interest to the Department, it formulates requests for tenure-track faculty and researcher positions, which are then forwarded to the University bodies, expresses opinions regarding contract professors, and collaborates with the University's governing bodies.

Department Board

It is composed of a representation of all figures in the Department.

The Directors of the departmental offices of Bologna, Forlì and Rimini, elected from among the full professors of those offices, sit on the Council by right.

The Council, in addition to expressing its opinion to the Director of the Department regarding the exercise of its attributions, also exercises a deliberative role in relation to any functions delegated to it by the Council, as provided for in the DiSA's operating regulations.
