Databases for use by the Department of Management

The Department of Management personnel can access specific databases.

Activist short selling

Premium Shorts module: historical data (May 2022) available in excel format. The module is used by investors and service providers, to learn about "activist short selling" campaigns and their developments.

Corporate register

Database of "non-financial and sustainability reports" published by private and public companies, profit and non-profit, according to different reporting frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD, IIRC, UNGC, and the SDGs).

It collects reports from about 21,900 organizations, including about 8,500 companies. It allows a selection by qualitative/quantitative parameters among over 141,000 reports. A specific "Online TOOL" allows viewing general statistics.

Crunchbase Pro

In the field of patents (applicants, inventors, bibliography, technology sector), the Department has acquired the "Autumn2021-snapshot" of the EPO World Bibliographic Database (DOCDB) and the EPO World Legal Status Database (INPADOC).

University databases

The University subscribes to and makes accessible over 300 paid databases - including bibliographic, full-text, factual, and citational - and selects other scientific resources available free of charge on the net. Compared to the scientific-disciplinary areas of interest of the Department of Management, factual databases and those for Business Economics are particularly relevant.

All users with an "@unibo.it" or "@studio.unibo.it" account can access this information.

From 2022, is available the WRDS Wharton Research Data Services platform. It is a business data search service of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, which provides access to financial, accounting, banking, economic, marketing, and public policy databases.

WRDS was purchased by the Department of Management as part of the Excellent Departments Project, for the exclusive use of the University of Bologna. Therefore a specific accreditation procedure must be followed to use it. The financial databases covering banks, listed and non-listed companies of S&P (Compustat North America) and BVD (BankFocus, Orbis Full, Osiris) can be consulted, as well as Free resources on Wrds.

For more information on the economic and business databases and to learn how to access WRDS, visit the dedicated page on the Walter Bigiavi Library website (page in the Italian language) or write to abis.wrds@unibo.it.
