In the last few years, existing organizations have experienced a radical change due to rapid technological developments, new digital technologies, and an increased pace of innovation. The implementation of digital technologies requires that organizations re-design their processes and activities so as to integrate, build and reconfigure external and internal resources and skills.
Accordingly, digitalization is very likely to transform the structure of the whole organization, its relationship with the ecosystem, as well as strategic decision-making processes. In this respect, digital transformation represents a great opportunity, increasing the innovation potential, improving the organization’s entrepreneurial orientation, and finding a more effective business model. At the same time, the radical changes generated by digitalization bring important challenges, by generating key changes that ask organizations to develop a specific entrepreneurial attitude defined as the overall strategic orientation to be risk-taking, innovative, and proactive.
As a consequence, if we want to effectively analyze digital transformation in its complexity, we can only rely on a multi-level approach. Indeed, by using a multi-level lens, researchers can address not only how digitalization has an effect at different organizational levels, but also how each of these levels contributes to this huge transformation. In this respect, the success of digital transition does not only depend on the organizational strategic attitude, but also on the willingness of employees to adopt and commit to these technologies.
The Paper Development Workshop
It seeks both theoretical and empirical contributions that address, among others, the antecedents of digitalization, the factors affecting its successful implementation, and the impact it has on organizations. The goal of this event is that of advancing our understanding of digitalization by
considering three different levels of analysis (individuals, organizations, and/or ecosystems).
This is an excellent opportunity to receive expert feedback on your work-in-progress, not yet submitted to a journal, from scholars that have both excellent publication records as well as Editorial roles.
Theoretical, review, empirical as well as methodological papers are welcome.
Successful applicants will join us for a day of thought-provoking presentations, developmental paper roundtables, and individual meetings.
Who can apply?
We welcome applications from the Department of Management’s doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows, and faculty. The symposium is free and funded by the Department of Management.
