The Univeristy of Bologna with the Departments of Agro-Food Scienze and Technologies (DISTAL) and of Management (DiSA) collaborate to the Summer Institute International Comparative Rural Policy Studies (ICRPS), which has reach its 12th Edition. ICRPS is a Consortium which brings  together an international, multi disciplinary group of faculty, students and professionals (from economic, sociological, political and managerial fields) to study together the many facets of rural policy and governance, from policy formulation to policy impacts. It deals with topics concerning rural development policy, local governance and particular attention is focused on the role of rural communities and the activites implemented in rural areas to favor an economic and social enhancement of those areas, to create job opportunities, to avoid migration phenomena and to garantee the territorial preservation.

ICRPS Consortium, comprising core faculty from universities in Canada, Europe USA and Mexico, The ICRPS program is the first of its kind that enables students to examine and compare the role of rural policy in different cultural, political and administrative contexts in Europe and North America, as well as in the South.

The programe foresees lectures, several field visits and related discussions and analyses concerning the visits. 

Each year the Consortium organizes a Summer Insitute addressed to Master, PhD students and professionals.

This is year the Summer Institute takes place from 21st of June to 4th July at the University College Dublin (UCD) in Dublino and at the National University of Ireland Galway(NUIG); it will focus on "Enabling Sustainable Rural Communities”.
