  • Date: 27 March 2024 from 13:00 to 14:00

We analyze multi-coalition governance within Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) both theoretically, and empirically, using MakerDAO as a case study. Our initial evidence suggests that three voter coalitions govern the platform.  We analyze the impact of the concentration of power within the dominant coalition on the DAO’s performance, in terms of value and stability. We also highlight the co-evolving dynamics of crypto assets and MakerDAO's governance structure.

Michele Fabi is a post-doctoral researcher at Ecole Polytechnique (CREST, IP Paris) within the Blockchain & Platform Chair. His research focuses mainly on digital markets and fintech, broadly speaking. He has ongoing research projects on incentives and consensus in blockchain protocols, decentralized finance, automated market makers, crowdfunding and platform economics. Michele obtained a doctoral degree in Economics from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2021 with the thesis “Crowdfunding and Blockchain Economics’’.

The seminar will be held in English.
