In this talk, Marcel Bogers, a professor of open and collaborative innovation at Eindhoven University of Technology, will share his insights and tips on how business academics can use social media to increase their openness and impact. Drawing on his own experience and research, he will explain why being open and collaborative is beneficial for both individual researchers and the scientific community, and how social media platforms can facilitate this process. He will also present five principles of effective online communication for scientists: see and be seen, select and specialize, serve, socialize and strategize.
Marcel Bogers is a Full Professor of Open & Collaborative Innovation at Eindhoven University of Technology and an Affiliated Professor of Innovation & Entrepreneurship at University of Copenhagen and University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on openness and participation in innovation and entrepreneurial processes within, outside and between organizations, covering topics such as open innovation, business models, family businesses, users as innovators, collaborative prototyping, improvisation, and university-industry collaboration.
He has received various honors and awards for his research, teaching and outreach, such as the Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher recognition, Most Cited and Most Read Article in journals as Journal of Product Innovation Management, California Management Review and Industry & Innovation. He has also attracted funding from various sources, such as the Novo Nordisk Foundation, the Carlsberg Foundation, the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation at the Ministry of Higher Education and Science, and the European Commission, and engaged in contract research for the Ministry of Environment and Food of Denmark.
