Climate KIC - Integrated Technology for Electric Mobility TIME ACCELERATOR

Granted by EU Climate KIC Programme

Coordinator University of Bologna Dept. of Electrical Electronic and Information Engineering

"Guglielmo Marconi" – DEI in collaboration with the Dept. of Management  (prof. Matteo Mura)

Duration: 5 months – from July 2017 to December 2017

Objective: The TIME project aims to develop a conversion kit for thermal engines in 5+ year old city cars. This retrofit kit comes with fully integrated electric powertrain, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), battery charger and management system (BMS), vehicle-to-grid (VTG), human-machine (HMI) and vehicle-to-internet (VTI) interface. Basically, from a vehicle that has ended its useful life – called a donor - the combustion engine is eliminated, whatever is in good condition is reused and the electrical components necessary for the transformation are then installed. All this produces a two-fold benefit: cost reduction, compared to purchasing a new electric vehicle, and a significant technological upgrade on the original vehicle
